Helpful reminders for extreme heat:
* Never leave pets or children unattended in vehicles, especially during hot weather.
* Avoid outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day.
* Plan to walk the dog early in the morning or late in the evening.

🚗 IT IS TOO HOT TO LEAVE YOUR PET IN THE CAR 🌡️

PLACER COUNTY: The heat is coming—and with temperatures expected to top 90° for the next week, it can be deadly to leave a pet in your car. Even a few minutes can be too long. And no, cracked windows are not enough! 🔥

🐾 Temperatures inside a vehicle rise rapidly
🐾 Pets can suffer heatstroke in minutes
🚨 What starts as a quick errand can quickly become a life-threatening emergency

And remember: California law prohibits leaving an animal in an unattended vehicle under conditions that could cause suffering, injury, or death.

No errand is worth the risk. Where you go, they go—or they stay home. 🐾❤️

Kids, older adults and pets are more prone to heat illness — keep an eye on them and yourself. Stay in air‑conditioned spaces whenever possible; if you don’t have AC, visit a library, mall or community center, or cool off with a friend or neighbor. Stick to shade, wear light‑colored clothing and stay hydrated. For info or assistance, call . More tips: www.placer.ca.gov/9242/Extreme-Heat

🚫 FIREWORK SAFETY ALERT: PARENTS, THIS MESSAGE IS FOR YOU 🚒

The Rocklin Fire Department has seen a concerning uptick in fire incidents caused by juveniles playing with fireworks. As we approach the 4th of July, we are urging parents and guardians to take immediate and responsible action.

🔐 If fireworks are in your home, they must be locked up and kept out of the reach of children.
Let’s be clear: even “safe and sane” fireworks can cause serious injuries, property damage, and wildfires when misused. Illegal fireworks are even more dangerous—and providing them to a minor is against the law.

📌 Under California Health & Safety Code §12702, it is unlawful to sell, give, or deliver dangerous fireworks to anyone under 18 years of age. Violations can result in criminal charges and significant fines.

We are asking all Rocklin residents to do their part:

• Keep fireworks secure and out of reach.
• Talk to your children and teens about the dangers of fireworks.
• Report illegal fireworks activity to local law enforcement.

🎆 Fireworks are not toys. Let’s work together to keep Rocklin safe for everyone this season.

Thank you for your cooperation,
Rocklin Fire Department
