👀 LOOKING FOR SO0METHING FUN THIS WEEKEND ⁉

The First Responders Weekend at Owls Head Transportation Museum offers something increasingly rare - an opportunity to connect directly with the people serving our communities every day.

👉This new event is designed to help visitors better understand what it takes to be a first responder while creating opportunities for conversations, learning, and community connection.

Visitors can meet firefighters 👨🏽‍🚒 EMTs 🚑 emergency organizations 🚨 and response teams, ask questions about their work, explore emergency vehicles up close, and learn more about how communities and first responders work together during emergencies.

Beyond the historic apparatus and demonstrations, this weekend is about people. It is about understanding the training, teamwork, and dedication behind emergency response while creating stronger connections between community members and those who serve them.

Whether you are bringing children interested in emergency services, looking for a meaningful summer weekend activity, or simply want to better understand the organizations helping keep communities safe, this event offers experiences for all ages.

If you are looking for a family-friendly summer weekend activity, First Responders Weekend at Owls Head Transportation Museum is worth adding to your calendar.

This new event features historic emergency vehicles, demonstrations, educational activities, and opportunities to meet local first responders and organizations.

Families can explore more than 100 years of emergency response history while enjoying activities designed for visitors of all ages. It is a new experience for the museum and a unique opportunity to see vehicles and organizations not usually gathered together in one place.

This year's St. George Days are from Wednesday, July 15th thru Saturday, July 18th. On that Saturday, starting at 11:00 a.m., the St. George Volunteer Firemen's Association is once again having its fundraising outdoor lobster feast at the town office parking lot. Proceeds from the event go to paying down the mortgage on the Fire Building located on Rt. 73, Seal Harbor Rd.

In addition to the delicious lobsters, the menu will also include mussels, burgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, desserts, sodas and water.

An event of this magnitude relies on many volunteers. We will need help with cooking the lobsters and mussels, grilling the burgers and hot dogs, serving the food, taking the orders and cashiers, bussing the tent, collecting the trash, and manning the "fill the boot" drive.

This is a wonderful and fun day, and we look forward to seeing so many members of our community and visitors. We encourage you to volunteer for a couple of hours, or more, if you can! Condolences to the Searsmont Fire Department, the Searsmont community. As well as the family and friends of Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Woodbury.

The Office of State Fire Marshal is saddened to learn of the passing of 76-year-old Wayne Woodbury on Sunday morning June 14, 2026 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Searsmont Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Woodbury was among the many firefighters and emergency responders who responded to the May 15, 2026, fire at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont.

The Office of State Fire Marshal extends its sincere condolences to his family, friends, and the members of the Searsmont Fire Department during this difficult time. The investigation into the Robbins Lumber fire remains ongoing.
