This morning, I attended Tarrytown’s 9/11 remembrance ceremony to honor the 2,977 innocent Americans who lost their lives that day, as well as the heroes we continue to lose to 9/11-related illnesses.

As we mark 25 years since September 11th, we remember the victims, honor the brave first responders who ran toward danger, and keep their families and loved ones in our thoughts. We will never forget the courage, sacrifice, and unity that defined our nation in the days that followed.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

September 11, 2001, is a day that forever changed America. More than 100 million people have been born in the United States since 9/11. It is imperative that, as with any significant moment in our history, we teach future generations about what happened that day.

As generations pass, we tend to forget. We can lose sight of the important moments that shaped our nation and defined our history.

Teaching the history of 9/11 in our schools is vital to ensuring that future generations understand its significance, remember those we lost, honor the heroes who answered the call, and ensure that we truly never forget.

A special night at Casarella Field as North Rockland and Nyack renewed a rivalry for the first time in 43 years!

North Rockland took home the 37-0 victory, while members of the 1983 teams were on hand to see history repeat itself.

We were excited to provide school supplies at St. Thomas AME Zion Church’s Back to School event in Haverstraw and join the Human Rights Community of Rockland for their Back to School Drive at St. Joseph’s Church in Spring Valley.

SSG Travis Mills is a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant who served with the 82nd Airborne Division and completed three deployments to Afghanistan. On April 10, 2012, during his third deployment, he was critically wounded by an IED and lost portions of both arms and both legs, becoming one of only five quadruple amputees from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to survive those injuries.

Today, Travis is a veterans advocate, author, and motivational speaker who addressed staff at North Rockland High School. After overcoming life-changing injuries in combat, he has dedicated his life to inspiring others and supporting fellow veterans and their families. I was proud to have U.S. Army Sgt. Wantroba, a member of my staff, present him with a Congressional proclamation recognizing his service both in and outside of the military.

This flag is a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of the Ukrainian people. I’m proud to stand with Ukraine and will continue supporting the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom and a better future.
