When crisis hits, low-income families often have nowhere to turn for help. The Children’s Home + Aid MotherHouse Crisis Nursery can lend support to families when they are faced with a crisis such as homelessness, domestic violence, medical emergencies, joblessness or drug addiction. MotherHouse Crisis Nursery provides both immediate help as well as longer term intervention/prevention family support to help stabilize the family. Central to the program is Crisis Child Care, which provides a safe haven for children when their families are unable to care for them due to an emergency. In addition to Crisis Child Care, the program provides parent education classes, parent support groups, individual therapy, crisis counseling, and access to after-care services. Through these combined services, the MotherHouse Crisis Nursery program helps to stabilize families in crisis, preventing abuse and neglect.
