REMINDER: Ironman is THIS Weekend!

PRO TIP 1: The routes highlighted in green on the map are your best options for getting across town. In many cases, using Auburn Street, Morgan Street, or Illinois Route 251 will be much faster than waiting for roads or lanes to reopen.

PRO TIP 2: Download the free Waze app before race day. Waze provides real-time traffic updates and can help drivers navigate around closures and congestion throughout the event.

PLAN AHEAD SUNDAY: IRONMAN 70.3 Rockford returns this Sunday, bringing 2,300 athletes from 30 states and 19 countries to our community, including 170 athletes from the Rockford area and 95 from the City of Rockford.

Race activities begin at 7 a.m. and include:

Swim - Athletes will start in the Rock River near the Rock Men.

Bike - Participants will travel from downtown Rockford west along State Street, through portions of Winnebago County and Rockton, before returning downtown.

Run - The course winds through downtown Rockford and along both sides of the river, finishing on the 100 block of South Main Street.

There is a threat for strong (EF-2+) tornadoes across northern Illinois this afternoon between 4 and 8 PM. The highest threat will be in the dark red shaded area. This area has shifted farther south than previously forecast. Take tornado warnings seriously, and have multiple ways to get warning information today.

While sworn officers are often the most visible members of a police department, our professional staff play a vital role in supporting our mission. From countless behind-the-scenes functions, their dedication keeps the department operating efficiently and helps ensure the highest level of service to our community.
