We had previously shared the WCHA provides Section 8 Mainstream vouchers for the new Lafayette Apartments, and today we are happy to share that we've added Rental Housing Support vouchers, which are state funded vouchers provided by the Illinois Housing Development Authority!

These are new, studio apartments for the fully renovated Lafayette. You can apply now at our site!

Yesterday we spent time with our facilitators and partners to look at what’s happening in our Getting Ahead groups and what’s ahead for fall. Hearing directly from the people who sit with participants every week always helps us keep refining this program and making it better for every person who walks through the door.

We also recognized longtime facilitator Scott Lewis of the Winnebago County Housing Authority with a Certificate of Appreciation. The way he treats people with dignity and respect, how he encourages them when they’re ready to quit, and how he models the values of the program in every interaction deserve to be honored. We have personally spoken with graduates who worked hard to change their lives, and they pointed to Scott's encouragement as a turning point in their lives.

Partners from the City of Rockford, the Goodwill Excel Center, Rockford Housing Authority, Comprehensive Community Solutions, and Whitehead Elementary joined us as well. Their involvement is a big part of why this program continues to grow and stay responsive to what families in our area are facing.

Thank you to every facilitator who puts in the time, carries hard conversations, and helps participants build tools to gain stability they can use every day. People rely on your work, and that effort is what keeps this program moving.

The wait list for the Pecatonica apartments is open!

Applicants must be 62 years of age or older or disabled regardless of age. Assisted rents run from $25 to $908 depending on income. To get your application, just call (815) 234-2620 or stop by the rental office at 100 Blanchard Court in Byron, Illinois.
