🔥 Grilling season is one of the best parts of summer, but a little safety goes a long way.
Before your next backyard barbecue, keep these tips in mind:
🏠 Keep grills at least 10 feet away from your home, deck railings, and anything flammable.
⛽ Check propane tanks, connections, and hoses before every use.
👀 Never leave a grill unattended while cooking.
🧯 Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and know how to use it.
🧹 Clean grease trays and buildup regularly to reduce flare-ups.
⚡ Using an electric grill? Make sure it’s plugged directly into a properly rated outlet and keep cords away from heat and foot traffic.
🚸 Create a “kid-free zone” around the grill.
One safety tip many people don’t know: avoid wire-bristle grill brushes. Loose bristles can break off, stick to cooking grates, and end up in food. If swallowed, they can cause serious injuries and may require medical treatment.
Instead, consider using:
✔️ A grill scraper
✔️ A grill stone
