New Milford Fire Protection District is a progressive all hazard emergency response agency dedicated to service. All of our members are required to obtain State of Illinois Basic Operations Firefighter Certification through the office of the State Fire Marshal (about 240 hours of training), Members are also required to maintain a minimum of Healthcare Provider CPR with AED Certification and attend

an additional 12 hours of departmental training each month. About half of our members are Certified with the Illinois Department of Public Health as EMT-Basics (200 hour class) or EMT-Paramedics (about 1000 hours of Education). In addition to our minimum Training and Education Requirements all members of the New Milford Fire Protection District are required to provide 120 hours each month to cover volunteer shifts. This commitment is what allows us to provide such fantastic service to the communities we serve. If you are interested in joining our team applications are available at the fire station.

Our Story

New Milford Fire Protection District is a progressive all hazard emergency response agency dedicated to service. All of our members are required to obtain State of Illinois Basic Operations Firefighter Certification through the office of the State Fire Marshal (about 240 hours of training), Illinois or National Registry EMT-Basic (200 hours of training). Currently we have 15 certified EMT’s (Basic or Paramedic), 5 members are in the process of becoming certified EMT’s, a 4 members will be enrolled in an EMT program within the next 9 months. In addition to our minimum Training and Education Requirements, all of the members of the New Milford Fire Protection District are required to provide 120 hours of volunteer service each month to cover shifts. Because of the commitment the men and women of our department display we are able to offer fantastic services to our communities.

The New Milford Fire Protection Distirct currently operates (1) Fire Engine with a 1250 gpm pump and a 1,000 gal. water tank, (1) 2500 gal. Pumper/Tanker(Tender) with a 1250 gpm pump, (1) 3500 gal. Water Tender with a 500 gpm pump, (1) Heavy Rescue, (1) Brush Truck and (2) BLS Ambulances. We currently have (7) Full-time Employees and 23 Volunteer members. In 2017, we responded to 714 calls for service, the vast majority of which were medical emergencies. This was a 62% increase in the number of calls in comparision to 2016 when we had 445 calls fr service.
