COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANTS 20K

South Main Mercado started in 2023 at Ethnic Heritage Museum Park with 35 vendors and has grown into a multi-block celebration along the South Main corridor.
“We didn’t know exactly what this event was going to become, but we knew there was something special here on South Main Street and in the historical district,” Valdez Doyle said.
It went from a few hundred attendees in its first year to several thousand in 2024, when it was one of 32 organizations to earn the Lt. Governor’s Revitalization Award for its work to uplift a commercial district.
“You see families spending time together, small businesses growing and culture being celebrated in a beautiful way,” Argumedo said. “For me it’s about pride: Pride in where we come from, pride about culture, and pride in what we’re building together right here on the south side.”

South Main Mercado will expand its footprint as it enters its fourth year.
