Cannon Township recently detected low levels of PFAS in a shallow groundwater monitoring well near Township Hall. The well was installed as part of planning for a possible future cemetery.

We are committed to transparency, clean water and protecting the health of our residents. Cannon Township will continue working closely with EGLE, sharing verified information and providing updates as additional test results become available.

Low levels of PFAS chemicals were recently discovered in a shallow groundwater monitoring well on Cannon Township property, prompting local and state officials to test nearby residents' wells.

đźš’ A familiar face leading the way!

Cannon Township Fire Chief Morris was all smiles and waves at the Rockford Start of Summer Parade last weekend. We’re grateful for the members of our Fire Department who serve our community every day and still make time to join in the fun at local events.

Did you spot the Cannon Township fire truck in the parade? Give Chief a đź‘‹ in the comments!

Belding Road Sewer Project Update

The Belding Road sewer project is scheduled to begin in mid-June. Replacing the sewer line on the south side of Belding Road while keeping traffic moving will be challenging, but Belding Road will remain open during construction.

Here’s what residents can expect:

🚧 Two-way traffic will be maintained using a traffic shift.

🚧 Eastbound traffic will be temporarily routed into the center turn lane.

🚧 Left turns within the active work zone may be difficult or temporarily prohibited. Please expect slower traffic.

🚧 Myers Lake Avenue will close completely for one week during the later stages of the project so the sewer can be replaced through the intersection.

Thank you for your patience as this important infrastructure work moves forward.

A Shared Legacy of Service: Kent County Sheriff’s Office & Cannon Township

“The title “Sheriff” has deep roots stretching back to England. It comes from “shire-reeve,” a local officer charged with keeping the peace and carrying out the law on behalf of the community. As the role developed over centuries, it crossed the Atlantic and became a form of local accountability.”

- Bryan Muir (Undersheriff)

Clerk’s Corner: Technology, Roads, Elections, Cemeteries

“Everything I do begins with the residents of Cannon Township. As we make decisions and plan for the future, I continually ask myself: Are we spending your tax dollars wisely? Are we making the most thoughtful and financially sound choices for our community?”
