Sports are more than games, they're a powerful economic engine for our region. New data shows that Rockford Park District sports facilities generated $89.5 million in regional economic output between 2018 and 2025, attracting athletes, families, and visitors from across the country while supporting local hotels, restaurants, retailers, and businesses.

What started as a vision to retain, regain, and grow sports tourism has become a reality.

SNEAKY NICE POOL DAY: While this morning's clouds have kept temperatures on the cooler side, sun will come back quickly, and temperatures will warm nicely into the 70s this afternoon. And, since the wind will be dying down with every passing hour, today may be offer a perfect opportunity to hit one of the Rockford Park District's outstanding pools!

We've got a few more great pool days ahead of us beyond today as well, but be sure to pack the sunscreen, as our sun this time of year is stronger than it is at any other day on the calendar! Sunburn can occur in as few as 15 minutes, so be sure to apply that sunscreen early and often!

Little Blackhawks Learn to Play is a great partnership program with the Chicago Blackhawks designed to introduce more families to the game of hockey. Participants receive head-to-toe hockey equipment and six weeks of on-ice instruction, all through one registration.

This year's session recently wrapped up, but keep an eye out for future opportunities to join the program! In the meantime, Learn to Skate classes and a variety of hockey programs continue throughout the summer. 🏒
