LOCAL 1058 CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE – JANUARY 2023

Your Local 1058 Bargaining Committee continues to meet with the city, progress continues to be slow. Part of the reason for slow progress is several proposals from the city that significantly diminish rights or benefits that our members have enjoyed for a very long time.

We have bargaining dates scheduled into March 2023 and will continue to bargain hard and with the best interests of our members in mind. In the coming weeks, we will be asking our members to show solidarity with the bargaining committee by wearing AFSCME buttons. (BUTTONS WILL BE PASSED OUT AS SOON AS THEY ARE RECEIVED FROM THE VENDOR)

We are holding a special membership meeting to give an update on bargaining on Wednesday January 18 at 6:00 p.m.. The meeting will be at the Rockford Labor Temple, 212 South 2nd Street.

Happy Friday AFSCME Family…. This upcoming election is so important to our Union. We need to get the vote to continue to collectively bargain for fair wages, working conditions, and fair treatment. Please talk to your friends and family and encourage them to vote with us. 🙏🏻

It is with a heavy heart that our local 1058 has to say Goodbye to one of our Union Brothers, James "Doug" Adams. Doug worked for the City of Rockford Public Works for 6.5 years and departed this earth yesterday, way too soon.

A word from our Union President Christina Loudermilk: "Doug was one of the nicest, Realist Brothers I have had the opportunity to work with. I have never heard an unkind thing said about him. He will be truly missed. Rest Easy Brother".

Please lean on your brothers and sisters during this difficult time and reach out if you see someone struggling. We are here to support each other. God Bless you and Godspeed Doug...
