Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Tindle has demonstrated exceptional loyalty, professionalism, and commitment while contributing to the City’s progress and daily operations.

School starts tomorrow! Mayor Ward Roddam is reminding everyone to help kick off the new school year safely. 🚌📚

Please observe school-zone speed limits, yield at crosswalks and remain patient as traffic increases. When a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing, drivers must stop to protect students as they load and unload.

Please also follow the elementary school’s drop-off and pickup procedures, and help new parents become familiar with the process. Do not block access to the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, as emergency vehicles must be able to respond without delay.

The Rockdale Police Department will be out helping ensure everyone follows the law and our students arrive safely.

Let’s start the school year safely. Go Tigers! 🐯

The Rockdale City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting today to discuss several important items related to the City’s budget, development, public services, and community investments.

Topics on tonight’s agenda include:

🏅 Recognition of City employees and presentations from local organizations.

📻 Consideration of a ten-year police radio-system agreement with Milam County totaling approximately $349,000.

💰 Public hearings on the proposed FY 2026–27 budget and the proposed property-tax rate.

🏘️ Consideration of the proposed Millerton Landing Public Improvement District and the annual update for the Cornerstone Public Improvement District.

🎡 A Hotel Occupancy Tax funding request of $25,000 for the Rockdale Fair and Rodeo.

🚂 A request for up to $5,000 in Hotel Occupancy Tax funding for accessibility improvements at the Rockdale Depot Museum.

📋 Action related to a $225,000 no-match grant for updating the City’s comprehensive plan and developing a Unified Development Code.

🗑️ Consideration of the City’s contract renewal with BVR Waste and Recycling.

The City of Rockdale is hiring a Water/Wastewater Operator to help keep our community’s essential water and wastewater systems operating safely and efficiently.

🔧 This hands-on position includes monitoring treatment facilities, collecting and testing samples, maintaining equipment, repairing water and sewer lines, keeping accurate records and responding to emergency calls when needed.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Texas driver’s license and a Class C Groundwater License, or the ability to obtain one within one year. Municipal or public works experience is preferred.

One of Rockdale's favorite Labor Day traditions is back! Join us as we celebrate the end of summer with two afternoons of swimming, fun, and community at the annual Back to School Pool Party. Whether you're making one last splash before school starts or spending time with friends and family, this is an event you won't want to miss. ☀️

We'll once again be splitting the event by age to give everyone plenty of room to enjoy the pool. Admission is free, complimentary snacks will be available while supplies last, and we'll be sharing more event details as the big weekend gets closer. 💦
