As this Thanksgiving Holiday weekend comes to a close, we wanted to say Thank you to all of you who make Eugene's Annual Swim the special day that it is. From the bottom of our hearts, we are so grateful to you all.

It's taken us the past two weeks to recover and come down from this year's Annual Swim. We still can't believe the amazing surprise that we received when we made our way down to the beach. We never could have imagined such an incredible tribute to Eugene!! Thank you TC for making the fantastic card (photos below!) so we can thank all of our dear friends who contributed to making that happen. It truly moved us and was just beyond compare. Who would have thought with the forecast that day, that the plane would be able to fly and the sun would shine through the clouds like it did - it was unbelievably perfect!

As always, you all come knocking on our door with your elbows bringing wine, liquor (all kinds! :), beer, appetizers (pretzels/cheese dip, home made stuffed mushrooms, Ruebens, SOS's, crab/cheese toasts, kielbasa, home made chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, homemade oatmeal raisin and spice cookies, peace sugar cookes and bakery cakes and black and white cookies that I ate for days!, chicken ceasar salad made with love :) and on and on....

We hope that you and yours have enjoyed a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. And we wish you all a wonderful holiday season!

Looks like the stormy weather is going to hold off for our dip. We can ride out whatever happens after with drink in hand. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

CANCELLED - FF EUGENE WHELAN ANNUAL BIRTHDAY SWIM

New day, New Rules during Covid times. The tents are up and we're almost ready to go, BUT, given the new rules that are going into effect in NYC on Friday, 11/13 at 10p,

"any indoor/outdoor gatherings at private residences will be limited to 10 people". New travel guidelines are in effect for out-of-state travellers.

We always knew that this could happen, but we've also held out hope that we would be able to pull this off.

Given the situation, we don't feel comfortable putting anybody at risk.

Sadly, we will need to cancel this year's Swim.

I'm sure Bobby and his brothers will jump in the water to keep the streak going and I will document it to make it official!

We will truly miss seeing you all and celebrating this day but know that we will be back with a big 20th Anniversary Birthday Swim for Eugene in 2021.

We are just under two weeks until Eugene's birthday swim and given the current times, we wanted to let you know a bit more about our plans for the day.

We will be having the entire party outside in two heated tents. One on the back deck and the second one in the driveway.
We will have hand sanitizer and masks for anybody that may need one as well as a port a potty.

Our menu will be simpler this year. Soups, sandwiches, some apps, deserts and beverages.

We are hoping for a nice day, but please dress accordingly.

Please know that we completely understand if you can't join us this year. For those that can, we look forward to seeing you in two weeks.

HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY EUGENE!
11/23/69 - 9/11/01

It's another beautiful day, just like the one we had two weeks ago when we all celebrated Eugene together! We can't thank you all enough for joining us and making the day so special. Some of you have been with us from the beginning and others are just joining in the fun. Some of your kids have grown up with us and either jump in the water or come for the soup :D.

Kieran & Ann Marie Mills (+ young Kieran, Michaela and Aidan), you always go above and beyond and this year was no exception. Those amazing hats that all of the swimmers were able to put on their cold heads after the dip in the ocean was compliments of The Mills! As was Eugene's birthday cake that nobody wanted to cut into (:D) and the tie dye cookies!

Catherine & TC Sullivan - what would the day be without your home made stuffed mushrooms?!?! always delicious and a crowd favorite!

John & Siobhan Whelan - the chicken Caesar salad made with love!

Mary & Tommy Whelan - what a beautiful flower centerpiece! two home made amazing cheese cakes! Bailey's with Espresso Chips and a Peanut Butter - wow!

Tricia Rodman - you didn't even make it, but you still made your appetizers for us!

So many bottles of delicious wine (that you know we love!), Vodka (which is really in a tie for first with wine!), all kinds of Beer, Espresso Vodka, Whitney's Lemonade Vodka, Gosling's Rum, Buddha Rum, Patron, Baileys and on and on and on....

Pretzel Bites with all kinds of dips!

TC & Gerry - Ice, Ice and more Ice - to fill the huge coolers and for all of the cocktails! always needed at an all day affair :)

So many amazing bakery items for dessert. From the huge Black/White cookies, to the several pounds of yummy bakery cookies from all over Long Island - we really enjoyed having the few leftovers the next morning :D

Flowers, goodies and so much more - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ALL!
