🌧️🏊 Due to inclement weather, the outdoor pools at Blairtown and Washington Parks will be closed today.

Apparently Wyoming didn't get our memo that it's pool season. We ordered sunshine, but Mother Nature delivered clouds and enough wind to remind us who's really in charge.

The safety of our guests and staff is our top priority, and today's conditions aren't ideal for a day at the pool. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we wait for the weather to cooperate.

Stay warm, hang on to your hats, and we'll see you at the pool when summer decides to make another appearance! ☀️

Wow! That seems like a tough way to fight a fire!

In honor of World Bicycle Day, we have an image from the 1890’s of Mr. Andrew Riddle, fireman and Mr. Joseph Iredale, Fire Chief for The Clark Hose Company posing in uniform on their bicycles. The February 1928 Union Pacific Coal Company Employe's Magazine reported on the early days of firefighting in Rock Springs:

“A truly Western method of taking fire hose to the nearest hydrant was in vogue at this time. A horseback rider would tie the end of the hose to his saddle horn, give his horse the spurs, while someone adjusted the reel. The hose would be at the fire first. Firemen rode bicycles, and it is interesting to relate that some of the members of the early fire organization remember when there were eighteen hundred bicycles in the city.”
