Mayor Mickelson has officially proclaimed June as Men’s Health Month—a designation the City of Rock Springs has recognized each year since 2020. 💙

This proclamation serves as an important reminder to bring awareness to men’s physical and mental health, especially in Wyoming where the statistics are deeply concerning.

Wyoming Men’s Mental Health Facts:
▪️ Approximately 85% of all su***de deaths in Wyoming are men, with men being about 5.5 times more likely to die by su***de than women.
▪️ In 2024, Wyoming recorded 169 su***de deaths—a rate of 27.8 per 100,000 residents, among the highest in the nation.
▪️ Over the past 20 years, Wyoming’s su***de rate has increased by nearly 59%, outpacing the national average.
▪️ Men are often less likely to seek help due to stigma, cultural expectations, and concerns about appearing weak.
▪️ Rural communities face additional challenges, including isolation and limited access to care.
▪️ Wyoming continues to experience a shortage of behavioral health providers, creating barriers for those seeking support.

Raising awareness is a critical step in breaking the stigma and encouraging conversations that can save lives. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out—help is available, and you are not alone.

Who We Are: Rock Springs

In the final episode, Mayor Mickelson and Christina Miller share why the VA chose Rock Springs — and what it means for our community. One of the most impactful benefits? There’s no cost to enroll — no deductibles, no premiums — and veterans can still register even if they have other healthcare coverage.

The VA’s approach goes beyond traditional care, focusing on the whole person — mental, physical, nutritional, and more.

It’s not just healthcare. It’s whole health.

Who We Are: Rock Springs

In this episode, Mayor Mickelson and Public Affairs Officer Kristina Miller highlight an exciting addition to our community — the new VA Clinic.🇺🇸

One of the biggest advantages for our veterans is access to the entire VA Healthcare System nationwide. Even if a specialty service isn’t available right here in Rock Springs, veterans can seamlessly connect to care across the country.
