The Sweetwater Amateur Radio Club is inviting residents to witness and participate in an emergency communications preparedness exercise during the nationwide ARRL Field Day.

The event will take place Saturday, June 27 through Sunday, June 28, at the Western Wyoming Community College โ€“ Green River Campus.
Field Day is the largest amateur radio emergency communications exercise in the United States and demonstrates how volunteer radio operators can provide critical communications during disasters, power outages, and emergencies when traditional systems fail.

Community members are encouraged to stop by, learn about amateur radio, observe live radio operations, and speak with local operators about emergency preparedness and public service communications.

GREEN RIVER -- While most people depend on a smartphone in an emergency, the Sweetwater Amateur Radio Club is preparing for the moment those phones donโ€™t work anymore.

This weekend, the Sweetwater County Office of Emergency Management, alongside SC-CERT and our local HAM radio group, proudly represented our community at the Preparedness Fair.

From sharing emergency preparedness tips to handing out some great goodies, we had the chance to connect with residents and highlight the importance of being ready before disaster strikes.

Preparedness starts at home, but itโ€™s strengthened through community. Sweetwater County continues to show what readiness and resilience look like.
