Thank you to everyone who came out to our August Meeting! We also want to thank our speakers, Geoff Spiva, Cooper Jacks, and Angie Teems, for their presentations.
Geoff Spiva will be sharing information on the Georgia State Constitution at each monthly meeting.

Chairwoman Teems gave great insight regarding the state of the county and answered many questions from the audience. The summary of her speech is listed below:👇
1. Budget: the board will vote on September 3 for the 2027 budget. We strive to balance the cost of services that are absolutely necessary to provide with inflation rates.
2. Data centers and AI.:
The public concern regarding these two new topics has created a need for us to take a hard look if we can find benefits to the county. We will take the data center review slowly to be sure we thoroughly consider all aspects. The study group that has recently been created will do the research. Then the commissioners will decide on a future path.
3. Current financial stays:
The County has no debt and we have seven months of reserve funding. There is also $24 million in general fund for operating capital. There were leftover expenses from 2024 that were paid for early in 2025 plus a change in our accounting principles cause some confusion in the public regarding how money is being spent. The board of commissioners overseas the budget and my limit is $25,000 per item. Does all large expenditures are approved by the board of commissioners.
4. I always end with inviting people to call me or invite me to meet with him. I am and always will be open honest and transparent with everyone.

Cooper Jacks spoke about the importance of the GOP winning over young voters and how we do that practically. The summary of his speech is listed below:
👇
1. Address Affordability. 53% of 18-34 year olds ranked cost of living within their top concerns. The GOP must have a clear plan to implement.
2. House ownership seems unattainable. Young people desire to own homes and start families. What once required around 20% of an annual income in the 1980s now requires over 40% today.
3. Fully implement the conservative agenda with the same tenacity that the left does. When Republicans are given a majority in Congress, young people want to see results delivered on conservative campaign promises. We must be willing to hold those in our party accountable.
4. Recruit young candidates that young voters can relate to. Be willing to pass the torch to next generation conservatives.
5. Utilize social media to connect with young voters and fight back against the DSA agenda.
6. Address the concerns of AI. 27% of 18-34 year olds polled that they themselves or someone they know lost a job to AI while 96% expressed concerns about cost of living. In addition, taking the stance of accelerated data center construction is not a popular stance. Do research, study the impacts in communities that already have them, and listen to the people in the community.
