It feels good to spend a Friday afternoon learning and strategizing about how to help people getting out of prison be successful. At our Reentry Summit today at Western Illinois University in Moline we were inspired and challenged to help formally incarcerated people find affordable housing, secure employment, and have another chance at life since they have paid their debt to society. Thanks to all the speakers who shared their time and talent with us! A lot of hope was in the air!

What a great night celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Community Care Conference in Rock Island. We are happy and proud to do our work in this city! Congratulations to all the winners… especially our team as we were named Nonprofit of the Year. As our President/CEO, Dr. Dwight Ford, commented our team works tirelessly to ensure people are encouraged, supported, and treated with dignity as we provide life-saving services. We are also excited that our partnership with Christian Care —the Street Outreach team—was recognized. They spend their days on the street caring for those often forgotten. Looking forward to the 51st!

We can add the Moline Regional Community Foundation to our list of organizations to thank for helping us fund our homeless efforts this winter. Our team was all smiles today as we accepted a check which will be used to help people find a home. We don't just want to shelter people struggling to make ends meet, but give them a set of keys to their own apartment.

The successful Augustana Prison Education Program in the East Moline Correctional Facility boasts 18 graduates.

At our Reentry Summit next Friday, October 23rd we will hear from a current student, Sentoro Dunn, who will graduate next May. Sentoro is a big advocate of higher education and says even though he made a mistake in his life, the APEP program is giving him a second chance.
