Rock Island County State's Attorney's Office This Office serves as the Chief Prosecutor of all criminal cases in Rock Island County.

**We are not able to file lawsuits on behalf of individuals or give legal advice to the general public**

“A duty of a prosecutor is to seek justice, not merely to convict. A prosecutor has the responsibility of a minister of justice and not simply that of an advocate. This responsibility carries with it specific obligations to see that the defendant is accorded procedural justice and that guilt is decided upon the basis of sufficient evidence.” IL S.Ct. R.PR. 3.8

Fairness and equality are the cornerstones of the criminal justice system. At the Rock Island County State's Attorney's Office, criminal prosecution is fair but firm. We work closely with local law enforcement agencies to carefully review all cases and ensure decisions are never based on age, race, gender, color, creed, or national origin. It is the role of every prosecutor within our office to act with the commitment to seek justice, and in so doing, we do not simply act to convict. We work daily to protect our community & advocate for victims of crime, while also seeking alternative approaches for juveniles and non-violent offenders. As the chief legal advisor for county government, the State's Attorney provides legal services to the county board, elected county officials and other county departments so they are able to make careful decisions. Our legal advice seeks to promote transparency, accountability and responsibility on behalf of the residents of Rock Island County. As public servants we must never forget that we serve at the will of our constituents.
