“The most important thing that a political party can do is choose candidates to represent them on the ballot who are likely to support that party’s agenda once elected to office. Why then, when carrying out that most important responsibility, should Republicans be forced to allow participation from those who oppose us?”

This gives us another week to make sure the SC Legislature hears from THE SCGOP! We need to ensure Republicans are choosing our candidates AND that we protect our ballots from infiltration by democrats masquerading as Republicans. H.3643 is the ONLY bill that does all that!! This is the official position of the SCGOP by majority vote of the EC!

This Thursday, the SC House subcommittee will hold a hearing regarding the bill to address registration by party in SC. Here are a few facts for your consideration before contacting your legislator.

H-3643 and its Senate companion S-305 is the best option with which we've ever got this close.

* It allows people to register by party or remain unaffiliated

* If someone is unaffiliated, they can vote in any primary, BUT when they do, it automatically registers them with that party. The result is MORE registered Republicans when the first primary is over, vs other bills that would drastically cut primary participation.

* It CLOSES our primary participation to only registered Republicans AND those willing to register with our party by way of the primary. Democrats are excluded.

* It limits candidates to those who are registered with our Party - AND who have voted in at least 2 out of the last 3 statewide primaries. Otherwise, they would need a waiver from our State Committee.

The other bill, H 3310, is being promoted as supposedly "more conservative". DO NOT FALL FOR THIS LIE!

* It still allows "open primaries"
* It lets people change their party registration 30 days before a primary, (vs 45 days in our bill)

*Worse, it would FORCE us to certify registered DEMOCRAT candidates to our primary ballot, as it does nothing to control who "runs" in a primary. Jim Clyburn could literally register as a Democrat and then file to run for Governor in our primary and we would have no recourse.

Please read the bill, arm yourself with the facts and contact your legislator today!

I’ve seen firsthand how delays cost us precious time in child exploitation investigations.

S.74 is a commonsense fix that lets us move faster—because kids can’t wait.
