Happy Anniversary RHFD!

December 14th, 1869, the South Carolina General Assembly was petitioned by a group of public appointed citizens, for the incorporation of the Rock Hill Hook and Ladder Company.
There were 35+ members of the first fire company to serve Rock Hill. Their equipment consisted of a wagon with leather buckets attached to the sides. They were located in a 2 story frame house on what is now called Caldwell St. This department "headquarters" was destroyed by a fire along with most of the downtown buildings on June 3rd, 1878.
