The park area was an old abandoned farm-site that was cleared of a barn, silo, silo room, granary, corn-crib, and machine shed/garage. The park was initiated and created by the Town of Rock Creek Volunteer Fireman led by Jerome Bauer and Robert Bauer. Rock Creek Rockets 4-H Club, Rock Falls Area Sportsman Club, and many local residents also helped in the effort. The park initially consisted of a b
all diamond, concrete basketball court, and swings. In 1999, a Bremer Foundation grant provided funding for fences, bleachers, and ball field lights. Throughout the years since, construction of the pavilion with a utility room and restrooms, sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and playground equipment were added. The park is used for Family Reunions, Birthday Parties, and more. The pavilion can be reserved on a first come first serve basis to town residents from May 1st to October 1st. Each year on July 4th, the park hosts a beanbag tournament, pickleball tournament, kids pedal tractor pull, car show, chicken dinner, parade, and fireworks. Proceeds from the event pay for improvements and maintenance throughout the year.
