A large tree in town came down yesterday late afternoon and is currently on Jackson Street. We have the tree blocked off and the tree was supposed to be removed from the road this morning, however due to weather we were unable to move it from the road today. Please use Jefferson to access the north part of Jackson Street. We are hoping, weather permitting that the tree will be removed by Saturday.

Attention residents that live on Hillcrest in town! The fire hydrant on Hillcrest is going to be replaced tomorrow morning. In order to replace the hydrant we will need to turn the water off which means residents that live on Hillcrest will not have water from 8 AM until 12 PM. Thank you for your understanding!

ATVs/4 wheelers cannot be driven on the roads in town or up at the park. This is also a state law. Residents are seeing children driving these in town. If this is not stopped the county will get involved. Thank you

🚧🚧 Route 75 - Rock City Rd 4-Way Stop Update 🚧🚧

Good afternoon residents and surrounding community members,
Today I received a follow up phone call from the lead project engineer for this intersection project. He let me know that IDOT has heard us and our concerns and they have added additional safety measures to the intersection project. Originally, I was told that there would be (On Hwy 75) permanent flashing stop ahead signs before cars get to the intersection, as well as flashing LED screens notifying drivers of the upcoming change in traffic, which would be temporary for the first three months. The permanent additions they have added to the project include: flashing beacons on the stop signs as well as rumble strips on Hwy 75 on the west side of the intersection. The permanent flashing stop ahead signs before the intersection will also be implemented from the original project plans. There will not be rumble strips on the east side of Hwy 75. The reasoning behind this was the noise of the strips behind village homes, drivers will be coming out of a reduced speed limit zone, visibility is much better and there will be several flashing beacons to alert them of the stop. He thought we would see this change as early as November.
