For many, familia and community are at the heart of who we are. Nuestra comunidad is a powerful source of strength and healing. But stigma and shame around substance use can sometimes make it difficult for individuals and families to ask for help or talk openly about what they’re experiencing.

This mural reminds us that recovery is not just an individual journey—it’s a journey of community.

When we create culturally responsive spaces where people and their families feel understood, respected, and welcomed, we make it easier to take that first step.

Our culture, our families, our stories, and our communities must be part of the recovery journey.

Let’s keep opening doors. Less stigma. More conversación. More comunidad. More amor. More esperanza. 💛💙

It’s Ibero’s honor to recognize Eugenio Marlin as this year’s President’s Award recipient during the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Ibero-American Development Corporation.

It was also a tremendous honor to recognize Lisandra Mandez as this year’s Alicia Torres Award recipient and Scott White as this year’s Unsung Hero.

Eugenio, Lisandra, and Scott each contribute so much to Ibero, and our community is better simply because they are part of it and because of their leadership.

Congratulations, Eugenio, Lisandra, and Scott! ❤️

This decision is a powerful reminder that when communities come together, we can protect dignity, strengthen trust, and create a city where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Our latest episode, hosted by CEO Angelica Perez-Delgado, was a difficult but necessary conversation about what happened on August 5, when ICE agents were encountered in our parking lot.

We talked about what happened that day, what we’ve learned since, the actions we’re taking, and what it means to continue showing up for our community during moments of fear and uncertainty.

But we also talked about something that often gets left out of these conversations: the emotional toll.

The toll on our staff.

The weight of continuing to show up.

The questions that remain.

And the resolve it takes to keep serving our community.

There are lessons we’re still learning. There are actions we’re taking. And there are questions we’re still asking.

But one thing remains clear: we will continue to show up.

We’ll talk about what happened, what we have learned since that day, the actions we are taking, and what it means to continue showing up for our community in moments of fear and uncertainty.

But this conversation is also about something we don’t talk about enough: the emotional toll. The toll on our staff who continue to show up with unwavering resolve.

There are lessons we are still learning. There are actions we are taking. And there are still many unanswered questions.
