A recent “Career Journey” at Villa of Hope School gave students an inside look at the fascinating field of instrument making.

Josiah King shared his unique career path and showcased his creativity and craftsmanship as a luthier — a skilled craftsperson who builds, repairs, or restores stringed musical instruments like guitars.

Our students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful and insightful questions. Experiences like this expose students to diverse career paths and demonstrate that success can be built through creativity, persistence, and skill.

Thanks, Josiah, for making an impact on our students!

Last week’s visit from RocDog brought an incredible sense of calm and joy to Villa of Hope. Our students truly look forward to these visits. They offer not just happiness, but a meaningful sense of peace and support in their day.

Knox, a Mastiff and a gentle giant, brought calm the moment he walked through our doors. His paws—easily as big as our Horticulture Teacher’s hands—were a constant source of awe and laughter, but it was his soft eyes and patient spirit that truly won everyone over.

Knox didn’t just visit—he grounded the room, lowered anxiety, and reminded our students what safe, unconditional support feels like.

The opioid epidemic is evolving with 7-OH, a powerful psychoactive drug that is engineered to be addictive. Unlike other popular opioids, 7-OH isn’t prescribed or purchased on the street, it’s marketed and sold to youth like candy in corner stores and smoke shops across the country.

Now, Poison Control and the FDA are sounding the alarm. American families are reporting side effects such as dependency, withdrawals, overdose, and even death.

If you see or hear about these products, don’t ignore them. Spread the word to help educate the public and keep families and communities safe.
