ROOF Community Services

ROOF Community Services Providing resources and services to families and children in Rochester, WA. ROOF is a multi-service agency supporting children and families.

ROOF Community Services is a non-profit organization founded in and focused on the Rochester, WA community since 1993. The Kids' Place After-School and Summer Program provides academic and social skill building to 50 Kindergarten-5th grade low-income students referred by school personnel. The Food Bank provides a well balanced supplemental food program as well as basic necessities for families in

the Rochester School District area. We distribute approximately 300,000 pounds of food each year. Annual projects include Operation Santa-a holiday gift giving program for children in need fueled by community donations- and a Back to School Supplies Drive which ensures students have school supplies and a backpack to be ready for school. Other services include utility and rental assistance vouchers, vouchers for small home or car repairs, help with items needed for employment and health, and more. Please reach out to ROOF with questions or to learn how you can help us support those in need in the Rochester community!

Congratulations to ROOF Community Services' Executive Director Kellie McNelly on being named Capital Lakefair Grand Marshal!🎉

Capital Lakefair Names Kellie McNelly as Grand Marshal for the 69th Festival

Capital Lakefair has announced that Kelley McNelly, Executive Director of ROOF Community Services, will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 69th annual festival, themed “Let the Medieval Magic Begin.”

The role of Grand Marshal is a ceremonial honor bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to their community and who embody the spirit of the event. McNelly’s decades of service to families in need across Thurston County make her a fitting choice for this year’s celebration.

A Thurston County native, McNelly is deeply rooted in the community. She is a graduate of Capital High School and Saint Martin's University. Her connection to community service began early and continued when she joined ROOF Community Services in Rochester in 1996 as a part-time program assistant.

Over the years, her leadership and dedication helped grow the organization, and in the fall of 2008 she became Executive Director.

For more than 33 years, ROOF Community Services has provided essential resources to the Rochester community. As the only multi-service agency in the area, ROOF has built a vital safety net through five core programs serving some of the community’s most vulnerable children, individuals, and families.

As Executive Director of a small nonprofit, McNelly wears many hats, from grant writer and HR manager to custodian, hall monitor, and community liaison. Despite the many responsibilities, she says the most meaningful part of her work is the opportunity to connect directly with people in need.

Although ROOF is a small organization, its impact is significant, with nearly 30,000 client interactions each year.

McNelly’s lifelong commitment to service and her dedication to supporting the Rochester community make her a remarkable choice to lead the parade as Grand Marshal during this year’s Capital Lakefair celebration.
