Let's check in on the People's House, shall we?

East Wing? Demolished. A $300M+ ballroom is going up in its place — without public notice, facing federal lawsuits.

South Lawn? Being turned into a cage-fighting arena for a UFC event on June 14th — Trump's buddy Dana White's fight promotion. Cost: $60 million+.

Also in the works: A giant arch modeled after the Arc de Triomphe. Because why not.

This is not a theme park. This is the White House.

Invasive species cause harm to our ecosystems, wildlife habitat, and our food web. Banning Callery pear, Common & Glossy Buckthorn and Japanese Barberry, along with Lettuce & Water Hyacinth, is a win for the environment and a win for the taxpayers who foot the bill for cities and others to eradicate them. On Wednesday, May 20, Michigan residents and cities won!

In addition to the bradford pear tree, Michigan also banned the sale of buckthorn, a voracious invasive shrub that has taken over parks and homes around the state.

So the money flows one way: out of your pocket, and if anyone gets it back, it's not you.

Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman recently explained a troubling pattern with the current tariff system:
When tariffs are imposed, the costs get passed on to us — American consumers — through higher prices. But when courts later rule those tariffs illegal, and companies get refunds, that money doesn't come back to us. It goes to the companies.

As Krugman puts it, illegal tariffs that get struck down become "a machine for ripping off the American public" — consumers pay higher prices when tariffs go up, but when companies get refunds after a court ruling, they don't pass that savings back to consumers. Substack

In his words: "We have created a machine which rips off consumers when the tariffs are imposed, then hands a bunch of money to corporations when the tariffs are ruled illegal." Raw

The money the consumer paid for the tariffs will not flow back to the consumer.
