Join the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) and City of Rochester, MN Police Department (RPD) as we celebrate Night to Unite, a community-building event that coincides with National Night Out.

Millions of people across the country will come together on Tuesday, August 4, to promote neighborhood unity and police-community partnerships in pursuit of safer communities.

Neighbors are encouraged to organize gatherings and register them at RochOlmstedUnite.com by Tuesday, July 28. Law enforcement officers from RPD or OCSO will visit as many neighborhood celebrations as possible. Other first responders, including the Rochester Fire Department, will also be visiting neighborhoods.

Police Chief Jim Franklin shares, “Building a safer community starts with knowing your neighbors. Night to Unite is a prime opportunity to come together and strengthen our connections in support of a safer Rochester.”

Kevin Torgerson, Olmsted County Sheriff, adds, "The goals of Night to Unite and our Sheriff's Office mission statement are intertwined, to promote and protect the well-being, safety, and security of all people in our community. We look forward to joining with our friends and neighbors again this year to work towards those common goals here in Olmsted County. We will see you in your neighborhood on August 4!"

Night to Unite is traditionally held on the first Tuesday in August.

The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office features five individuals with outstanding warrants each week to raise awareness and gather information on their locations. To settle these warrants, the listed individuals must appear in court before a judge. Turning themselves in is the best course of action. This post highlights individuals wanted as of June 10, 2026. If you view it any time after that date, the warrant listed in the post could be settled.

All the individuals featured have arrest warrants, and charges vary in severity. Given the chance of severe weather today, we wanted to provide some reminders about the Olmsted County outdoor warning sirens.

Sirens are activated under the following conditions:

1. Tornado Warnings (issued by the National Weather Service, whether radar-indicated or confirmed by trained spotters or public safety personnel)

2. Sustained winds of 70 mph or greater (forecasted or observed)

3. Hail measuring 2 inches in diameter or larger

Important reminders:

• Outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outdoors, not those inside homes or buildings.

• Outdoor warning sirens do not activate for an entire event.

• There is no "all-clear" siren after activation.

• Always have multiple ways to receive severe weather information, such as weather alerts on your phone, weather radios, or trusted media sources.
