📢 Village of Rochester Notice – New Burning Requirement 🔥
The Village Board approved Ordinance No. 2026-4 on April 13, 2026, updating rules for outdoor burning.

Call Before You Burn:
All non-recreational burns must be reported in advance to Racine County Dispatch at 262-886-2300.

Agricultural Burning:
•May begin at 8:00 a.m.
•Must not create dense smoke
•Must follow all regulations

Note: The 8:00 a.m. start time applies only to agricultural field burning, not to burn barrels or refuse burning.

📢REPAIRS ARE COMPLETE📢

Update: All repairs have been complete and the dam is in full working order.

Rochester Dam Gate Failure

Tom Halter, Rochester Dam Operator, has reported that repairs are currently underway at the Rochester Dam.
Several gate cables have failed, which has caused the affected gates to remain fully open until repairs are completed.

What this means for residents:

•Water levels may fluctuate significantly
•Changes are expected to continue for at least the next 24 hours

Please use caution around the river and downstream areas during this time, and stay alert for changing conditions.

Congratulations to our Photo Contest Winners!

First Place goes to Hannah Schroeder! Her photo received the most votes and earned the top spot in this year's contest.

Second Place goes to Jayme Nelson, finishing just 4 votes behind first place.

We also had a tie for Third Place between Danny Hoeft and Amber Jensen.

As our First Place winner, Hannah's photo will be featured as the banner image on the Village of Rochester page and website. The other winning photos will also be featured throughout our website.

Thank you to everyone who entered the contest. We enjoyed seeing all of the great photos and the different views of our community. We appreciate everyone who participated and everyone who took the time to vote.
