Drowning remains the leading cause of death for children ages 1–4 and the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages 5–14.

In the United States, more than 4,000 unintentional drowning deaths occur each year. Promoting water safety, close supervision, and swim education can help prevent these tragedies.
