Here’s a simple guide to cookware to avoid and safer alternatives. Some pots and pressure cookers have been found to contain lead or other toxic metals mixed into the metal during manufacturing. Over time, scratched, pitted, or worn cookware can release these metals into food.

Exposure can affect anyone, but it is especially harmful for children and pregnant people. Safer options include stainless steel, glass, and cast iron cookware.

Join us on June 27th at Foodlink Farms for a FREE stainless steel cooking pot giveaway, perfect for cooking rice, beans, and stews! No RSVP required. Supplies are first come, first served.

Did you know? Some imported aluminum pots and pressure cookers may contain lead, especially if they’re old, damaged, or used for long cooking times. Lead exposure can affect children’s learning and development.

Choosing cookware made from stainless steel or cast iron can help reduce exposure to harmful metals and chemicals.

Join us on June 27th from 12–2 PM at Foodlink Farms for a Cooking Pot Giveaway! Bring in your old pots and pans for recycling and receive safer cookware while supplies last. ♻️💚

Did you know sunflowers can help pull heavy metals from the soil? It’s true! While it would take a large number of sunflowers and plenty of time to make a significant impact, they’re a powerful symbol of how nature can support healthier environments.

This past Friday, we partnered with Petra from Fruition Seeds to pack sunflower seed packets that we’ll be sharing at upcoming community events. Our goal is to raise awareness about lead poisoning and prevention. We hope to see more sunflowers blooming across our city. 💛

P.S. One packet alone isn’t enough to remediate soil, but it’s a step toward education and awareness.
