The Robinson Police Department would like to let our local business community know that James Hubbell with LAW Publications will be visiting businesses throughout Robinson this week.

Mr. Hubbell will be speaking with local businesses regarding opportunities to support the Robinson Police Department through LAW Publications.

This program gets awareness information and material into the hands of school aged children and senior citizens to warn them of many different risks and dangers involved with drugs and also keep them informed on various other important safety topics.

Dove season starts Tuesday, September 1st. Be sure to stay safe and keep a few things in mind when it comes to the code of ordinances:

👉 Hunters must be on 50+ acres and remain 1,000 feet away from any structures or roadways.

👉 Hunters do not have to own the 50+ acres but do have to have permission from the owner(s) to hunt on the property.

I-35 WACO SOUTH | TxDOT and its contractor will be removing the westbound South Valley Mills Drive bridge over I-35 as part of the My35 Waco South Construction Project. The removal will begin on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m., and be completed by Sunday, Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. The following closures will be in place:

•All I-35 mainlanes between New Road and 17th Street
•East and westbound crossings at 17th and 18th Streets, South Valley Mills Dr., and Irving Lee Street/Primrose Dr.

New Road and 12th Street will remain open for east and westbound crossings and turnaround movements during the closure.

Reminder, slow down, eliminate all distractions, and always pay attention when traveling through the work zone.

Back to School: Know Before You Ride!

As students head back to school, more e-bikes, e-scooters and other rides will be on our roads, sidewalks and bike lanes.
Before you ride to school, make sure you know the rules:

🚲 Follow traffic laws and posted signs
🛴 Know where your device can legally operate
⚠️ Ride safely and use recommended safety gear
🚗 Drivers: Slow down, stay alert and watch for young riders

Not every electric or motorized device is street legal, and rules can vary depending on the type of ride.

Heads up from TxDOT! For updates on this project, keep watch on TxDOT's page Texas Department of Transportation or visit their website at My35WacoSouth.com.

I-35 WACO SOUTH | Beginning Friday night, TxDOT and its contractor will begin removal of the South Valley Mills Drive direct connect to northbound I-35 as part of the My35 Waco South Construction Project.

Work will take approximately 24 hours and require closure of:
• All I-35 mainlanes between New Road and 12th Street
• East/westbound crossings at 17th & 18th Streets, Valley Mills Drive, and Irving Lee Street/Primrose Drive

Following the removal, the Irving Lee Street/Primrose Drive underpass will remain closed for an additional 14 days for drainage and utility work, with reopening anticipated on Saturday, Aug. 22.

These closures will allow crews to safely remove the direct connect and begin preparations to construct the new Diverging Diamond Intersection (DDI) planned for the area.

As the new school year begins this month, streets and sidewalks will be filled with excited students walking, biking, and riding to school. It’s the perfect time to remind everyone about the importance of pedestrian safety.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), one in every five children under the age of 15 who were killed in traffic crashes in 2021 was a pedestrian.

Here are a few key reminders for drivers:
- Slow down in school zones and stay alert.
- Always yield to pedestrians at crosswalks.
- Put distractions away, texting can wait.
- Never pass a vehicle stopped for pedestrians or a school bus with its stop-arm extended. ***You are required to stop on Hwy 77 if a bus has a stop sign out, no matter what side of the highway you are on.***

Parents, make sure students remember to:
- Stay alert! Phones and headphones can wait until you’re safely across the street.
- Cross at corners or marked crosswalks.
- Look left-right-left before crossing the street.

These ordinances are especially important during dove season because they help protect public safety while allowing for responsible hunting. They reduce the risk of accidents and ensures that hunting only takes place on authorized private property, respecting landowner rights and preventing trespassing. No one wants to get peppered on their way to school or work.

The holiday season may seem far away, but now is the time to apply for Blue Santa! Each year, the Blue Santa program helps brighten the holidays for local families by providing gifts and spreading hope to children in our community.

Applications will be accepted August 1st through September 25th. This application period gives volunteers and organizers the time they need to carefully review applications, coordinate donations, and prepare for the holiday season, helping ensure that as many families as possible receive assistance.

If you or someone you know could benefit from Blue Santa this year, we encourage you to apply early and help us spread the word. The City of Robinson has one active permit for soliciting effective July 28, 2026 - August 31, 2026. This permit is listed in the on the City's website: https://robinsontexas.org/657/Solicitor-Permits

We encourage residents to report non-permitted solicitors to the Police Department at 254-662-0525.

Any person desiring to be a Solicitor within the City shall file an application for a permit.
