✨ Cross Lutheran Weekly Update ✨

Thank you to Pastor Sandy Johnson for leading us in worship yesterday and presiding over our Service of Word and Sacrament! We are grateful for her leadership as she prepares to begin serving as our Bridge Pastor on September 15.

A special thank you to Linda Simpson and Sadie Welsh for sharing their musical gifts and providing piano music for worship!

September Worship:
• September 6 & 13 – Amanda will be preaching and leading worship
• September 20 & 27 – Pastor Sandy Johnson will preach and lead worship

Recovery Ministries
Cross continues to host open AA and Al-Anon meetings each week, providing a welcoming space for support, recovery, and community.

Quilting
Quilting is moving to Wednesdays beginning this week. Watch for meeting times and details.

Sunday, October 4
🌅 Rise & Shine Family Worship begins at 7:00 a.m. and will be held on the first and third Sundays through the end of the year. Join us for a short, family-friendly service with music, prayer, Scripture, and breakfast before our 9:00 a.m. worship.

Pastoral Transition
Our Transition Team continues to work with the Synod as we prepare for the next chapter at Cross. In the coming weeks, the team will begin gathering input from the congregation through coffee hour conversations, surveys, email, and individual visits.

✨ This Week at Cross Lutheran ✨

Join us this Sunday, August 30, as we welcome Pastor Sandy Johnson to lead us in a Service of Word and Sacrament.

We’re also excited to share that Pastor Sandy has accepted the call to serve as Cross Lutheran’s Bridge Pastor. She will officially begin her ministry with us on September 15. We look forward to welcoming her as we continue this season of transition together!

A few other updates:

🤝 Open AA and Al-Anon meetings continue to meet at Cross each week, offering support and hope to our community.

🍂 We’re looking forward to a busy fall! Mark your calendars:

September 20 – Back-to-School & Life Transitions Blessing, Blessing of Backpacks, Teachers & School Staff, and breakfast before 9:00 a.m. worship.

September 23 – Wednesday Night Ministries begin with dinner, Wednesday School, Confirmation, Adult Faith Formation, and worship with By Faith.

*Please note! Confirmation for grades 7, 8, AND 9 will meet on Wed nights this year!*

Rise & Shine Family Worship launches in October and will be held on the first and third Sundays through the end of the year.

🍂 LOOKING AHEAD TO FALL AT CROSS

We’re getting ready for a new program year at Cross!

Here’s what’s coming up:

☀️ SUNDAY MORNINGS — Beginning Sept. 20
8:00 a.m. — Rise & Shine Family Worship
9:00 a.m. — Worship as usual :)
10:00 a.m.- Family Faith Activities

🎶 We’re hoping to have choir rehearse Sunday mornings after worship.

🌟 WEDNESDAY NIGHTS — Beginning Sept. 23
5:30 p.m. — Dinner
6:00 p.m. — Wednesday School, Confirmation & Adult Faith Formation
7:00 p.m. — Worship with By Faith

Confirmation is for grades 7–9 with Amanda. Wednesday programming will include STEM, Bible stories, character building, relationship building and putting faith into practice.

🍽️ Donations toward dinner are appreciated as we serve 20–25 kids each week!

📖 ADULT OPPORTUNITIES
We’re hoping to start a Sunday morning Bible study, Wednesday evening book club and other small groups. We need volunteers to help lead! We’ll help with resources, book ideas, discussion questions and a simple plan.

🧵 Quilting moves to Wednesdays in September.

🏫 Virtue Academy will use some Cross classrooms Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., September–May. The building will remain available for scheduled church activities.

❤️ PASTORAL TRANSITION
Our Transition Team is gathering input from the congregation through coffee hour conversations, private conversations, paper surveys and email.

Please see Barb, Leroy or a Council member if you’d like to share your thoughts.

Amanda is continuing toward ordained ministry, with candidacy endorsement anticipated in December and internship beginning in February. Her plan is to remain at Cross and complete her internship here.
