On this Labor Day and last day of the Minnesota State Fair, our final post highlighting the Robbinsdale OES Dining Hall is one of appreciation for all our volunteers! Thank you to our Masonic family and friends who gave of their precious time over the summer to serve.

Thank you to everyone who ever ate at the Robbinsdale Dining Hall at the Minnesota State Fair. Your patronage helped to support dozens of causes over our 80 years of operation. Most recently, our fundraising proceeds went toward educational scholarships, cancer and Alzheimer’s research, veterans, youth and service dogs. We still actively fundraise but on a much smaller scale. Please continue to support our efforts!

Now it’s time for a less celebratory post about the Robbinsdale OES Dining Hall at the Minnesota State Fair. Due to a number of factors, including dwindling volunteer numbers, increased costs and decreased profits, members voted to close the dining hall in December of 2017. We auctioned off items from the building and shut our doors for the last time in the spring of 2018. This video shares a little about the decision and our farewell to the Fair. Thank you to all of the members, volunteers and guests who walked through our doors (and tent in those early years)! We loved serving you and then being able to serve others with the proceeds!

Without much notice, the Robbinsdale OES Dining Hall announced it has served its final meal.

The Robbinsdale OES Dining Hall was fortunate to have two different menu items selected as New Fair Foods at the Minnesota State Fair. In 2014, we had PB&J Stuffed French Toast. We also had Purple Pancake Dippers in 2016. It was always fun because it brought new people and publicity to our dining hall and our mission of raising funds for charitable causes! 🥞🥓🍞🥜🍓

Many special memories were made at the Robbinsdale OES Dining Hall at the Minnesota State Fair.

However, our dining hall played an extra special part in one couple’s story. We hosted their wedding reception in our building in 2016, complete with a corn dog arch and wedding cake! They came back for a visit the following year. Congrats to Stephanie and Paul! 💍♥️

Food on a stick? You didn’t find that at the Robbinsdale OES Dining Hall at the Minnesota State Fair. We offered simple tasty meals where you could pull up a chair, grab those utensils and enjoy something lovingly prepared by the hundreds of volunteers who served.

Happy First Day of the Minnesota State Fair! This time of year is bittersweet as we reflect on the 80 years of the Robbinsdale OES Dining Hall at the Fair.
