Update on the Aerial!
Members were out early today working on some more training with Truck 60! Working through the aerial operations, pumping and flowing master stream. Happy to report the Truck worked flawlessly and we had a great day of training. We even had one of our future Truckies out today to keep everyone in line! Thanks for stopping out Logan!

So just a follow up to the announcement we made about the Aerial! This week members starting getting acclimated to the Truck. Familiarizing themselves with where the equipment is going and loading hose, mounting tools. Members also started training on the proper setup, placement and operation of the aerial. In the next few weeks we will continue to train and work on pump operation as well as truck operations. We’re very excited to get the training in and get it in service in the next month or so. 🚨 BIG NEWS FOR FRIENDSHIP FIRE CO. #1 Inc! 🚨

We’re sure some people have been driving by the station and turning their heads as they have seen something different out in front of the station. So here it is!!

We are proud to announce that Friendship Fire Co. #1 Inc. has officially purchased a 1992 Pierce Lance 75’ Rear Mount Stick Aerial Apparatus! 🚒🔥
This is a major step forward for our department and for the communities we serve and the first Aerial Apparatus in the history of our department. The decision was made to purchase this apparatus to add an additional Pump to the station as well as 500 gallons of water and the Aerial. This will help improve our ISO rating with Verisk and should help improve the insurance rates of our communities when we request a review of our ISO rating after training is completed and it is put into service.

The Pierce 75’ Quint features:
🚒 75-foot Rear-mount aerial stick
💧 Waterous 1,500 GPM pump
💦 500-gallon water tank
⚡ 15kW hydraulic generator
🔥 Mid mounted Deck Gun
🔥Aerial Master stream
🔥1000’ 5” supply line
🔥Multiple 1-3/4” cross-lay attack lines
🔥1-3/4 Bumper/Trash Line
🧑‍🚒 Seating for 5 firefighters, including 4 SCBA seats and 1 SCBA compartment mounted with spare cylinders for each SCBA.
🏗️ Assortment of Ground ladders 26’, 35’, 14’, 16’ and attic ladder.
🪝 Various hand tools, saws, and Pike poles.
⚙️ Detroit Series 60 450 HP diesel engine, Allison Transmission.
📍 Only 51,000 miles

This apparatus will give our firefighters a whole new set of capabilities when responding to structure fires, rescues and other emergencies requiring aerial access or elevated water streams.
It will also strengthen our ability to provide mutual-aid assistance throughout the surrounding area, giving neighboring departments access to an additional aerial when they need it.

🚨 Not in service just yet! 🚨
The apparatus is not expected to become operational until the fourth quarter of 2026. Before it responds to its first emergency, our members will undergo extensive training and familiarization with the truck.

The apparatus will also receive some cosmetic updates including badges and lettering before being placed into service.

We want to thank Karl Greenleaf for his generous donation to the department which made this addition possible. We would also like to thank Cresson Fire Company/ Keystone Regional Fire Department for showing us their former truck and a quick and easy transfer.
