In September, Teresa Dixon was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. She is currently undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and wants others to know that they're not alone. From the onset of her diagnosis, Teresa has completely leaned into her faith and trusting God's plan in the middle of chaos. She has never questioned why she has cancer. Instead, she says why not? She believes that sharing her story and journey may help others- if one person out there fighting this same battle hears her story, maybe they will come to know the faith she has in Christ and not fight alone. Teresa is one of the most loving and selfless people around- anyone who knows her can testify to that. Teresa has selflessly served the City of Salem for over 30 years and is retired from Salem Fire-EMS. Her husband, John, is a retired paramedic-firefighter and currently works as a full time paramedic and field training officer. Their son and daughter both proudly serve in the medical field as well. When Teresa contacted their beloved friend and photographer, Patrick Perkins, she never imagined these photos to have such an impact. Patrick was immediately on board with his support and Teresa's husband, son, nephews and son in law jumped in shaving their heads to show their support. The outpouring love and support does not go unnoticed, and gives Teresa the courage to know it is all going to be okay. Although this is a long, hard battle, Teresa finds comfort knowing that God's got this and wants others to know the same. Find comfort in God's word. Shave your hair and embrace it- after all, it's just hair. Wear your pink proudly. Blast your worship music and get through it one treatment at a time. Never give up hope. Show the world you're stronger than cancer... You're a warrior and child of God. And know Teresa and her family are praying for those navigating this journey alongside of her.
