We’re excited to announce Sweet Teacher Shoutouts, giving up to 30 PTAs the opportunity to receive $1,250 from National PTA to celebrate exceptional teachers.

We’re inviting families and PTAs to recognize the educators who inspire, encourage and make learning meaningful every day. And entering is super simple—you can share your entry right here in the comments of this Facebook post or on your own page!

📸 Share a favorite photo or video and tell us what makes your teacher truly buzz-worthy. You can highlight as many teachers as you’d like, but please feature one teacher per entry.

✊🏽RCC-PTA is a 501(c)(3) advocacy organization (not a fundraising club). We don’t do bake sales. We demand adequate and equitable funding for our schools, and we hold our local City of Roanoke, Virginia - Government accountable when they don’t do that.
🫱🏻‍🫲🏾We serve all of the Roanoke Valley and encourage PTAs from surrounding counties to join us at our meetings, reach out to get involved or seek support.
🏆We recently won Virginia PTA Child Advocate PTA of the Year.
🗳️We have a big election coming up for 3 City Council positions. The results of that election will greatly impact the future of Roanoke City Public Schools. Our job is to share the information that matters and continue to fight the good fight. If you’d like to join us, scan the QR code on the last slide and join your school’s PTA.

Ultimately 53 people lost their job with RCPS thanks to a $14m deficit created by City of Roanoke, Virginia - Government

We maintain the city has the money to fully fund our schools, they are just choosing to spend it elsewhere, and we will continue to prove it.

It started the academic year with 127 vacancies as well.

There was a challenge. And then there was a choice. Faced with struggling city finances, a choice was made for an office renovation that could’ve been set aside for more pressing city funding needs.
Now we need the city to choose to step up for our schools.
