City Council presented members of the Roanoke Cultural Collective with a proclamation honoring Juneteenth, the national holiday celebrating the end of legalized slavery in the U.S.

City offices are closed today, June 19, in observance of this holiday.

City pools and the Discovery Center are open, and public safety crews are ready to respond to any calls for help.

The Roanoke Cultural Collective will host its annual Juneteenth Family Reunion at Eureka Park, 1529 Carroll Ave. NW, on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The free community festival will take place from noon to 5 p.m.

BIG NEWS FOR ROANOKE! Today, Governor Spanberger helped us announce that Austrian life sciences company, RINGANA, will establish its first U.S. headquarters in our city.

“We're proud to welcome RINGANA and the hundreds of jobs this investment will bring to our community, and we're thrilled that businesses recognize Roanoke's tremendous opportunities for economic growth,” says City Manager Valmarie Turner.

RINGANA’s decision to establish its U.S. headquarters, production and distribution hub in Roanoke brings an $85 million investment over the next five years and 435 new jobs.
