Last week, we were proud to attend the Virginia Economic Developers Association (VEDA) 2026 Summer Membership Meeting. 🤝 More than 150 economic development professionals and partners from across the Commonwealth gathered right here in Southwest Virginia to share ideas, discuss emerging trends, and strengthen partnerships that support economic growth.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the assets and momentum of our region while connecting with colleagues who are working to advance communities throughout Virginia. It was also great to see both the Roanoke Valley and New River Valley highlighted as growing hubs for innovation, talent development, and economic opportunity.

It was great to celebrate the launch of new nonstop service from Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport (ROA) to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) aboard American Airlines! 🤠✈️

This long-awaited daily route strengthens our region’s connectivity to one of the nation’s largest air travel hubs, providing greater access to markets, customers, talent, and opportunities across the country and around the world. Direct flights are a powerful economic development tool, helping attract new investment, support business growth, and keep our region competitive in today’s economy.
