The City has updated its Complete Streets policy! Complete Streets designs create a safe, comfortable and predictable places to walk, roll, drive or cycle.

Gainsboro Road NW, is Roanoke’s most recent Complete Streets project, featuring new pedestrian signals, high-visibility crosswalks, ADA access improvements, a mobility track, on-street parking and a center turn lane.

B.R.A.K.E.S. is a FREE behind-the-wheel training by professional instructors. Exercises focus on the five leading causes of crashes for new drivers: distracted driving awareness, panic braking, crash avoidance, drop-wheel/off-road recovery, and car control/skid recovery.

B.R.A.K.E.S. graduates are 64 percent less likely to be involved in a crash within their first three years of driving!

Area youth gathered this weekend at Westside Elementary School for the Walk & Roll Ready Rally! The focus was learning about traffic and cycling safety with interactive experiences provided by area transportation advocacy groups, the City of Roanoke Transportation and Roanoke City Public Schools.
