For anyone wondering what will happen to the child that made the threat against Crystal Spring Elementary school today, you don't have to. Based on what has occurred and is occurring at Grandin Court Elementary school our great superintendent will slap the wrist, figuratively of course, and send the kid back to the school. Our children are NOT her priority. It's not a priority to get them there on time, safely; and it's not a priority to keep children who make threats out of the schools they threaten. It doesn't matter if the threats were unfounded or the student doesn't have the means to carry out the threat. No one knows when it goes from unfounded or when a child does obtain the means until it's real.
Speaking at school board meetings is so ineffective, parents' time is better spent watching paint dry. The school board wants you to think you are welcome and they care about what you have to say, but really they just sit there and nod along knowingly and approvingly while you speak ignoring and forgetting everything you say as soon as you say it because nothing is going to change the decisions they have already made. The superintendent made that blatantly clear today with her statement about the 5th grader returning to Grandin Court Elementary. She double downed on her decision rather than heeding the concern, outrage, and fear of parents, students, and teachers.
This is the worst leadership this district has had since I have had students enter kindergarten. Thankfully, most of the school board members' terms are over this year and most aren't eligible for another term. Let's hope for better. Let's hope for a complete change in leadership from the very top, down. And let's hope there isn't tragedy in our district before there's change.
Stop using our children as pawns.
