Just a few pictures of our new fence. Fence is complete with all gates hung, surveillance signs and security cameras up. Lunseford fencing put up the fence and did a great job. Anyone that needs fencing work done contact them and they will do a great job for you. My husband Jerry Brown has done lots of work at the cemetery at no charge to the cemetery fund. He has hung the gates, installed security cameras and put up the signs plus he has trimmed a lot of limbs off the upper side of the fence and piled brush and sprayed round up. There is still work to be done on the lower fence to get it back in good shape. It has been pulled away from the fence post with weeds and vines growing on it and also trees growing up around it. The fence needs to be attached back to those post along with one post replaced. Which is laying out at the end of the fence. Also there are small trees and brush that needs to be cut away from the fence. Still some limbs that's hanging over the fence on the upper side that need to be cut and a spot inside the cemetery on the upper side that needs to be cleared so that it can be weedeated down to the fence in the future. I plan on painting the gates silver and hanging an American flag in the near future. If anyone wants to volunteer to help out with any of this it would be greatly appreciated. Just wanted to let everyone know that the fence is put up except for hanging one of the big gates and we hope to get this done within the next week. Also security cameras are in place and the signs will be put up by next week also. I plan on painting the gates silver as soon as I can get to it. The bottom fence needs some repair where it has been over grown with weeds for awhile. Got it cleaned off and sprayed round up for the most part. There is some brush that needs to be cut in one place and one fence post that has rusted into but we have one to replace it. 2 or 3 post have came lose from the fence and we will be fixing that. Also there are quite a few limbs hanging out over the fence on both sides. Jerry cut several off the upper side and we plan on getting some more cut off this fall and will continue to spray around the entire fence each spring. There is one place on the upper side of the fence that hasn't been weedeated in several years down to the fence because it has little trees and brush growing there and will require a blade on a weedeater to clear it off first. Jerry is going to take care of that this fall also so it can be weedeated in the future. I have thought about hanging an American flag out there on the wooden post where we once had a really nice sign that had the cemetery rules on it that was stolen also. It cost to much to have another sign made as it was weather proof and would have lasted many years. Is there anyone that is opposed to hanging the American flag on that wooden post ? If anyone has any suggestions for making the cemetery look good please feel free to let us know. As always thank you all for your donations to make this all possible.

Please remember the family of Pearl Markland when you pray. Pearl and her son Charles and daughter Sandra Laws were the caretakers of our cemetery for many years and did an Awesome job up until their health no longer allowed them to do so. Also remember Charles as his health is not good at all. We appreciate all they did for Issacs cemetery.

Just a little update to let everyone know that the work has begun on putting up the new fence and one walk through gate and hopefully it will be finished in time for decoration June 20th. Hope everyone can come out and decorate their families graves. As always a week after decoration all flowers will need to be in vases, on the headstone or in the ground close to the headstone so our mowers can get in to mow the rest of the mowing season. Also we will be getting the security cameras and signs in place as soon as the fence is completed.I also would like to remind everyone that when a grave has to be dug the funeral home is supposed to remind the family that a deposit of $100.00 is to be put in the cemetery fund and once the grave is covered and all excess dirt is hauled off your deposit will be gave back to you. If we have to get someone to haul off excess dirt and clean up then the $100.00 will be used to pay for the work. I appreciate everyone abiding by this rule because I hate to ask for it as the family has a lot going on at the time of a family members death. I appreciate everyone for everything you have done and all the donations for both the mowing and the fence replacement.

Just wanted to update everyone on the situation concerning our fence and stakes that were stolen from the cemetery. There has been a report made with the Carter County sheriff's department and it is under investigation. If anyone has information on who might have taken the fence or been involved please contact me or the sheriff's department. The good news is we have gotten enough donations to have our fence replaced along with signs and cameras that will be put up at the cemetery. Also the sheriff's deputies are doing an excellent job checking on the cemetery numerous times a day and also at night. I want to thank everyone that has donated towards the fence and mowing of the cemetery this mowing season. Without donations none of this could be done. Anyone that knows Dan and Martha Whittaker and sees them out and about let them know how much they are appreciated for their donation of half the cost to have the fence put back up. Without their donation we couldn't have done this right now. Jerry Lunsford will be doing the work on the fence and we're hoping to have it up by decoration which is June 13th. The cost of the materials and the work for the fencing is going to be $2380.00. I have the estimate for that and will have the receipt once the job is completed for anyone that want's to see it. I hope everyone has a wonderful summer !!!

Hello friends and family, I have talked to a few people that would like to try and get our fence that was stolen from the cemetery replaced. We would have to do a separate donation from the mowing fund. I have gotten an estimate on buying the fencing, stakes, hardware and the labor to replace the fence. The estimate for the complete project is $2380.00. That's with using the gate that was left and replacing the one small gate that was stolen previously. I have a very generous man that is wanting to match your donation. In other words if you give $40.00 he will give $40.00. He will do this with everyone that sends in a donation. This will be set up of course as fence replacement fund separate from mowing fund. If we were to get donations over the amount of the cost then this would be added to the mowing fund and left in the bank for future mowing. Also we haven't had meetings for the cemetery in quite a few years. If that's something people would have an interest in we can try to figure out somewhere to have meetings maybe during the summer months. Maybe once every 2 to 3 month meetings and discuss things like how much money we have in the cemetery funds and if anyone has any suggestions of things to make the cemetery better. Jerry and I are going to start this fund for replacing the fence with $100.00 donation and our generous donor will match that. As always you can mail a check or deposit into carter county bank into Issacs cemetery account. Make checks out to Issacs cemetery and add if it's for fence or mowing and mail to me at 403 bluegrass road Roan Mountain, TN 37687. If you do deposit cash into the account please let me know through private message so I can know that it's for the fence or mowing and can write your name down that you donated. I appreciate all of the donations thus far for the mowing and weedeating of the cemetery. I have the mowers going out today to get started on the cleaning up, mowing and weedeating for the season. If we have money left over at the end of mowing season it is left in the account for the next year. Also the bank account is always an open book for anyone that has questions.
