Well, we didn’t have “hire a hippo” on next Tuesday's agenda… but maybe we should add that! 🦛

Knowing Rives Township, she could be here to apply for a building permit, to register to vote, or to ask if the dump is open. Either way, we are happy she made an appearance in our little town!

🗳️ We’re excited to share some great news with our community!

Rives Township now has a beautiful, new, and secure ballot drop box available for voters to use in upcoming elections. Even better, thanks to the diligent work of Clerk Adams, this drop box was provided at no cost to our township.

This secure drop box is regularly monitored and designed to meet election security standards. Keep in mind, there is 24/7 camera surveillance of the drop box.

We’re committed to making voting as accessible, secure, and straightforward as possible for EVERYONE in our community.

📍 Drop Box Location: 348 E. Main Street, Rives Junction, MI 49277 (Rives Township Office)

The ballot box will be up and running for the May 2026 election!

P.S. We promise it won't be sitting on a pallet in the front yard come election time... we just need to agree on a spot and get a forklift to move it!

Stay warm everyone! Sunny and 75 days are on their way 😎

EDITED TO ADD: Rives Township is NOT being sued.

This update is due to a court-related order requiring the township to compile and provide a large volume of records, including more than 20 years of Sewer Assessment data. These records relate to a current legal matter in which historical sewer assessment and tax information has been called into question.

Due to the scope of this request and the age of the records involved, Township staff must dedicate significant time to locating, reviewing, and preparing these materials. In order to comply with the order, Rives Township has made the difficult decision to limit public office hours temporarily so staff can complete this work.

IMPORTANT OFFICE HOURS UPDATE

Due to a court order, the township office will have limited operations through March 30, 2026.

The Rives Township Office building will be closed to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, even if staff are present or vehicles are at the building. Staff may be working inside, but the office will NOT be open to the public on those days.

The office WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM to meet required election duties.

Please note that on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Assessor, Treasurer, and Office Administrator may not be immediately available, as staff may be assisting with court-order related matters.

Any payments can be made via the drop-box at the front of the building, or via the Treasurer's drop-box on the side of the building, past the ATM.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
