Tomorrow September 12th, we celebrate the courage, dedication, and unique perspectives women bring to law enforcement. This day honors both past and present female officers, recognizes efforts to build inclusivity, and inspires the next generation to serve.

Today, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001. We honor the extraordinary bravery of first responders who ran toward danger, many making the ultimate sacrifice. Their courage and selflessness continue to inspire us in our own service to this community. We will never forget the lives taken, the heroes who stood tall, and the unity that carried our nation forward.

The Riverton Police Department temporarily closed Sunset Park after a person called 911 and made a threat to shoot officers. The subject has been safely taken into custody and the area has been opened. More updates to follow...

UPDATE (6:00 PM) - At around 3:00 PM, a male called 911 to report he wanted to have a shoot-out with officers. He was located at Sunset Park. When officers first encountered him, he said he had a gun and immediately reached for his waistband where he pulled out a black cell phone.

Officers evacuated the area and officers from Wyoming Highway Patrol and Fremont County Sheriff's office assisted RPD officers at the scene. Riverton Police Sergeant was able to make cell-phone connection with the man which ultimately ended with his surrender. Shortly after 4:00 PM, the area was re-opened.

No one was injured in the incident and the man was transported to a local hospital for psychological evaluation. No fi****ms were recovered at the scene.

Thank you Fremont Motors for helping our officers take a Sssssssssuspected trespasser into custody. The Sssssssssuspect was refusing to cooperate but was ultimately apprehended.

Dallan Apadaca was honored at the city council meeting July 28th for his bravery on April 30th involving a house fire.

I want to thank the council and community for the opportunity to publicly recognize this officer for his act of bravery. Our community is in good hands knowing our 1st responders are willing to risk their lives to save others.
