Main break announcement: The village has a water main break in the area of 3rd/Adams. Limited addresses may experience low/no water pressure.

Just got this from IMEA-our power provider

MISO’s request for customers to voluntarily conserve energy has ended. We thank you and appreciate your efforts to reduce energy usage and help ensure electric grid stability. MISO has indicated they are still in a warning status. Please stay prepared in case of another energy conservation request in the coming days. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide you information.

Village of Riverton Urges Electric Conservation
The regional electric grid operator has called on area customers, including those served by the Village of Riverton, to reduce electric usage from now until Tuesday January 27th at 12:00PM. Please do your part by taking the following conservation measures:

• For electric-heated buildings, decrease heat setting by two degrees or more.
• Reduce “ghost” electric use by unplugging items not in use (e.g. coffee makers, appliances, and chargers).
• Use minimal lighting.
• Avoid using major appliances.

Attention Riverton Residents: Please avoid these areas if possible.
A gas line has been hit causing loss gas. This effects 3rd and Menard going west all the way to River Rd., that includes Franklins Apartments, all River Rd, 901 2nd St going North to 1033 2nd St. The Village employees are working as fast and safely as possible to repair the situation. Thank you for your patience.

Unfortunately, and due to private sewer repair, South 4th. St by the KofC will remain closed until further notice. The school transportation director, police chief and fire department have all been notified.
