Commemorative Air Force Inland Empire Wing

Commemorative Air Force Inland Empire Wing The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Inland Empire Wing is a 501c3 non-profit, all-volunteer organizati The Inland Empire "Squadron" was founded in 1989.
(1)

At that time it was located in Rialto, CA and was not doing very well. A group from Corona, CA took it over and moved the headquarters to the Corona airport. The four members who were responsible for this action were Art Seidler, Lyle Page, Bob Hemborg and Don Helms, seen in the photo below, taken in December 1990. The first plane assigned to the Squadron was the L-4F, in 1991, and then the Ryan P

T-22, in 1992. The Squadron moved to the Riverside Airport in 1994, and became the Inland Empire Wing. Today we have approximately 87 members, and of course, are always looking for new recruits! All members become "Colonels" once they join the CAF. One Saturday each month we have a "Hangar Day" and welcome any volunteers to come help with the many jobs around the hangar - including sweeping the floors! There's always work to be done!

We are raising $2,000 to purchase and install a new 98–100 inch flat panel display for the Commemorative Air Force Inland Empire Wing museum and meeting space.

This new display will replace our current 10+ year-old projector, which has become dim, outdated, and difficult to use effectively. Right now, using the projector requires us to pull down the projector screen and often turn off the lights just to see the image clearly. That makes it less practical during normal museum hours and less effective for visitors and presentations.

A bright, vibrant flat panel display will be a major improvement because it can be used quickly and easily during museum hours without darkening the room. It will allow us to present content in a way that is brighter, clearer, and much more engaging.

The new display will be used for:

Educational videos for visitors and tour groups
Historic slideshows and aviation content during museum hours
Presentations and guest speaker programs during our dinner meetings
Special events, community outreach, and commemorative programs
This is a much-needed upgrade that will help us better share the stories of the aircraft, veterans, and history we work to preserve.

With your support, we can replace our aging projector with a modern display that is easier to use, more visible in normal lighting, and far more effective for education and public engagement.

Thank you for helping us improve the museum experience and continue our mission to honor, inspire, and educate.

✈️ 90 Years of a Legend ✈️

Today we celebrate the 90th anniversary of the maiden flight of the Douglas DC-3, an aircraft that quite literally changed the world. From commercial aviation to WWII missions, the DC-3 became the backbone of global air transport and military operations, earning its place as one of the most important aircraft ever built.

We’re proud that this legacy lives on right here at home through the Inland Empire Wing’s C-53 “D-Day Doll.” During World War II, aircraft like D-Day Doll carried troops, towed gliders, and delivered critical supplies, playing a direct role in Allied victory. Today, she continues her mission by flying, educating, and honoring the Greatest Generation.

Ninety years later, the DC-3 still proves that good design, grit, and purpose never go out of style.

Preserving history. Honoring service. Keeping her flying.

created a great graphic to honor today! Thank you!!

80 years ago, during the Battle of the Bulge, Allied forces were cut off, frozen, and desperate for supplies. In response, transport aircraft flew dangerous missions through brutal winter weather to keep troops alive and fighting.

The D-Day Doll flew on those very missions, helping drop critical supplies during the Battle of the Bulge itself, not just the war in general. Food, ammunition, medical gear, hope. All delivered from the air when roads were useless and time was running out.

Today we honor the service members who endured the cold and combat, and the crews and aircraft that flew anyway.
This isn’t just history. It’s survival.

Wow😍

The air was clean while the sky lit green,
A sight only the North can show;
Even the aurora was showing its glow,
to the colour of AVO.
