Today, we pause to remember and honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the first responders, service members, and everyday heroes whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us.

At Alvord Unified, we take this day to teach our students about resilience, unity, and the importance of coming together as a community — values that remain as important today as they were 25 years ago.

🦁💙 Another Great Site Visit!

Dr. Thompkins enjoyed spending time with our students today and checking out the bi-weekly Student Store, where students can shop using Lion Bucks they earn for great attendance and positive PBIS behavior! 🌟

He also had the opportunity to visit our TK, kindergarten, and 1st-grade classrooms and see our youngest Lions learning and growing! 📚✨

We love seeing our students recognized for making positive choices and showing up ready to learn!

🐾💙 What an AMAZING week at Collett Elementary! 🤍

We started the week with our incredible Student Greeters welcoming students and families each morning! Watching our students take ownership and lead the way is what Belong. Believe. Become. is all about! 🥰

We were honored to welcome Superintendent Dr. Thompkins and Board Member Julie Moreno as they visited classrooms, connected with our students, and saw the amazing learning happening across our campus. Our students were excited, proud, and INSPIRED! 📚✨

We wrapped up the week with our FIRST Leadership Rally of the year! 🎉 Our student leaders stepped up and led the way, showing us that leadership starts with our students. 💪🐾

And we ended the day with a little staff appreciation from our amazing Sunshine Committee! 🍿❤️ Our teachers enjoyed a fun popcorn bar because our staff deserves to feel appreciated every day!

This week, Board President Georgina Ramirez had the chance to meet up with Juan Guerrero, our Recycling & Refuse Operator here at Alvord Unified School District!

Mr. Guerrero handles this important job solo, day in and day out — and he does it with a smile and great spirits every single time. With 20+ years of dedicated service to Alvord, he's a true example of the heart and commitment our classified staff bring to our schools every day.

A few more great stops at our schools! Trustee Julie A. Moreno and Superintendent Dr. Reginald Thompkins visited Collett Elementary, where they connected with Principal Dr. Edith Powers, staff, and students.

They also stopped by Foothill Elementary to visit with Principal Nayeli Martinez and see our Falcons in action! 🦅📚✨

Not only was it Picture Day, but students also had some special visitors! Trustee Julie A. Moreno, Superintendent Dr. Reginald Thompkins, and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Kelley Gelzleichter stopped by for a site visit.

Our students were excited to see their Superintendent out and about, visiting classrooms and connecting with them! 💙📚
