Today, we remember V-J Day

On September 2, 1945, Japan formally surrendered, marking the end of World War II. Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the American veterans and Allied forces who helped bring an end to the conflict.

We remember those who served, those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and the families who supported them throughout the war.

Thank you to the Greatest Generation for your service and sacrifice. We remember. We honor. We are grateful.

🌎⚓ Happy Birthday, Marine Forces Reserve!

Today, we celebrate the 110th Birthday of the Marine Forces Reserve, established on August 29, 1916, and honor the dedicated Marines who have proudly answered the call to serve our nation for more than a century.

Marine Reservists embody the Corps' values of honor, courage, and commitment, balancing civilian careers and family life while remaining ready to deploy whenever and wherever they are needed. Their dedication, resilience, and selfless service have supported missions around the world and strengthened our nation's defense.

Riverside County Veterans Services proudly recognizes all Marine Corps Reserve service members, veterans, and their families for their unwavering commitment and sacrifice. Thank you for your service and for continuing the proud tradition of the United States Marine Corps.

🪂 National Airborne Day

Today, we recognize National Airborne Day and honor the brave paratroopers who have proudly served our nation since the first official U.S. Army parachute jump on August 16, 1940.

Airborne Soldiers have long embodied courage, determination, and readiness, volunteering to undertake some of the military's most demanding missions. Their unwavering commitment and willingness to answer the call—often by stepping into the unknown—have played a vital role in defending our nation's freedom throughout history.

Riverside County Veterans Services proudly honors all Airborne service members and veterans for their extraordinary dedication, sacrifice, and service. Thank you for your courage, your commitment, and for continuing to inspire future generations.

🪶 Navajo Code Talkers Day

Today, we honor the extraordinary legacy of the Navajo Code Talkers, whose courage, ingenuity, and service played a critical role in securing Allied victory during World War II.

Using the Navajo language to develop an unbreakable code, these United States Marines transmitted vital battlefield communications that were never deciphered by enemy forces. Their bravery, dedication, and unique contributions helped save countless lives and remain one of the most remarkable stories in our nation's military history.

Riverside County Veterans Services proudly recognizes the Navajo Code Talkers and all Native American service members whose sacrifices, traditions, and commitment have strengthened our Armed Forces and our nation.

Today, we remember their legacy, honor their service, and express our deepest gratitude.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. On Purple Heart Day, we recognize the extraordinary courage, resilience, and selfless dedication of all Purple Heart recipients.

The Purple Heart is more than a medal—it is a lasting symbol of sacrifice, honor, and unwavering commitment to defending the freedoms we cherish. We are forever grateful to those who have borne the physical and emotional wounds of war in service to our country.

As we reflect on their service, let us also remember the families who have stood beside them through every challenge. Their strength and support are an important part of the story of sacrifice.
