The Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (District) is one of three entities serving the drainage needs of the County of Riverside and its cities. The District’s service area (2,700 square miles) covers the western third of the county, with its eastern limits extending through parts of Cathedral City.

Last week, Rohini Mustafa, Planning Division, and Andy Leung, Engineering Project Manager, attended the Lakeland Village Townhall hosted by Riverside County-Supervisor Spiegel District 2! Supervisor Karen Spiegel

Rohini spoke on behalf of the District and shared valuable information about the role of Flood Control, including what residents can do to prepare for and protect their properties during the upcoming El Niño season.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth! Attendees received information and resources on protecting their homes from flooding, keeping our waterways clean by properly disposing of trash and never dumping waste into waterways, and how to obtain flood insurance to help protect their properties.

We appreciate the opportunity to connect with the Lakeland Village community and help residents prepare for the upcoming weather season.

Build Your H&H Skills
Our annual H&H Fundamentals training gives District engineers a strong foundation in hydrology and hydraulics through hands on modules covering hydrology, hydraulics, basin routing, and 1D/2D HEC-RAS modeling.

Taught in house by experienced District engineers, the training connects fundamental concepts to real District projects and provides hands on experience with industry standard software including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, CivilDesign, ArcMap, and WSPGW.

It’s a great opportunity to learn from experienced engineers, grow your skills, and make a real impact on regional flood control engineering and infrastructure.

The Watershed Protection team had a great time at this year’s Tri-State Seminar Conference! Devin Darrow, an Associate Environmental Specialist with our Watershed Protection Division, proudly represented the District and presented on our efforts to improve our outfall maintenance procedures and inspections in support of NPDES compliance and flood protections.

The presentation sparked great discussion and highlighted the importance of coordination across Divisions to keep our waterways safe, sustainable and within compliance of applicable NPDES permits.
